Instructions on troubleshooting WiFi setting on a Mac Computer.

1.
Restart Devices
Restart your
Mac
and
Wi-Fi router
to refresh network settings and IP assignments.
2.
Check Wi-Fi Status
Click the
Wi-Fi icon
in the menu bar to ensure Wi-Fi is turned on.
If it’s off, turn it on and try reconnecting.
3.
Use Wireless Diagnostics
Hold the
Option key
and click the Wi-Fi icon.
Select
Open Wireless Diagnostics
and follow the prompts to analyze your connection.
4.
Forget and Reconnect to Network
Go to
System Settings > Network > Wi-Fi
.
Click
Details
next to your network and choose
Forget This Network
.
Reconnect by entering the password.
5.
Renew DHCP Lease
In
System Settings > Network > Wi-Fi
, click
Details
.
Under
TCP/IP
, click
Renew DHCP Lease
to refresh your IP address.
6.
Create a New Network Location
Go to
System Settings > Network
.
Click the
Location
dropdown >
Edit Locations
>
+
to create a new one.
Apply and test the new location.
7.
Reset PRAM/NVRAM and SMC
Shut down your Mac.
Turn it on and immediately press
Option + Command + P + R
for 20 seconds.
For Intel Macs, reset the
SMC
by following Apple’s instructions.
8.
Update macOS and Security Software
Go to
System Settings > General > Software Update
.
Install any available updates for macOS and third-party security apps.
9.
Check Router and ISP
Ensure your router firmware is up to date.
Try connecting to a different network to rule out ISP issues.
