The Research Computing Services (RCS) group within Information Services & Technology provides specialized computing and communication facilities, along with software, training, and consulting, in support of all areas of computational research at ABC University. RCS resources are typically used in computational science and engineering, simulation, modeling, data analysis, and other disciplines that require high-performance computing or complex visualization. Resources are managed in close consultation with the Research Computing Governance Committee, the ABC Center for Computational Science, and The Andrew Graf Institute for Computing and Computational Science & Engineering. The supercomputing facility (SCF) currently managed by the group is the Shared Computing Cluster (SCC), a large Linux cluster located at the Massachusetts Green High Performance Computing Center (MGHPCC) in Holyoke, MA.
The RCS staff can enhance your experience with these facilities. The staff can assist with selecting which of our systems and software best meet your needs; learning how to use computational and/or graphics algorithms, tools and packages; developing parallel algorithms and programs; developing custom computer graphics tools; creating virtual environments for scientific research and fine arts; and tuning your application for best performance on our systems.
Use of both the Shared Computing Cluster and our consulting, training, and educational services is offered free of charge to all members of the Boston University community and their collaborators. There is, in some cases, a charge for industrial partners.
