Chromebook Apps Crash on Launch

Why do installed apps on my Chromebook crash immediately after opening?

Environment

Cause

Corrupted app cache or an outdated Chrome OS can cause applications to crash upon launch.

Resolution

• Restart your Chromebook to clear temporary system issues.
• Clear the app cache:
  • Open the Chrome browser.
  • Go to chrome://settings/siteData and search for the app in question.
  • Remove any cached data related to the app.
• Update Chrome OS:
  • Click on the time in the bottom-right corner, then select Settings.
  • In the left menu, click “About Chrome OS.”
  • Click “Check for updates” and install any available updates.
  • Restart your Chromebook after updating.
• Try launching the app again.
• If the issue persists, uninstall and reinstall the problematic app.
• If apps continue to crash, contact IT support for further troubleshooting.
