- How are Master Keys Assigned?
Answer:
- Every key assigned to an employee is documented and tracked through the service management request process.
- One week prior to an employee separating from the organization, the supervisor is responsible for returning assigned keys to Facilities.
- Suite master keys are intended for supervisors and office managers only. All keys must be approved by the requesting employee’s supervisor before the key will be issued.
- Building master keys and exterior master keys are intended for limited individuals. All key requests for these keys must be approved by the unit or department head.

- Improves safety and security of the organization and prevents unauthorized access to spaces.
- Reduces the risk of lost or stolen keys.
Additional Information:
- All Key Requests require supervisor approval.
- Facilities Operations takes pride in the safety and security of the organization's facilities; therefore, an annual audit will be performed to make sure all keys are accounted for. Replacement costs for re-keying lost or misplaced keys is the responsibility of the individual dept. of the areas affected.
